Biography

Acclaimed by the Tunis media as a „ graceful violinist from Poland”, Anna Buda is a polish violinist who specializes in solo, chamber as well as orchestral performance. She started her first violin lesson at the age of seven, inspired by the legendary Anna Sophie Mutter performance at the Cracow Philharmonic. By the age of ten, she went on the win the Multiinstrumental Competition in Cracow. Since than, Anna Buda has performed in over 40 countries and be laureate of the XXII International Violin Competition in Citta' di Barletta (Italy, 2012) with 2nd and 3rd prize, finalist of the First Violin Competition ' Young Virtuoso' (Poland, 2013) and finalist Malta International Violin Competition (2014), laureate of the 2 prize at Polish Rising Music Stars Competition (2020) and 3 prize winner of the International Moscow Music Competition (2020), winner of the Poland Prestige Awards in the category Violinist of the Year (2020/21), winner of the 1 prize at Swiss International Music Competition (2021), Special Mention on Clara Schumann International Music Competition ( 2021), 1 prize on World Vision Music Contest in regional section (2021), II Prize ( I not awarded) on The London International Music Competition ( 2022), II Prize at The Medici International Music Competition ( 2022), II Prize on American Virtuoso International Music Competition organized by American Society of Musical Excellence, Washington DC ( 2022) with the special prize: recital concert in Carnegie Hall, II Prize on Birmingham International Music Competition (2022). . She has also appeared as a violin chamber and orchestral musician in a worldwide television network like NBC 6, polish TVN, and TVP culture.

As a keen chamber and orchestral musician, she has participated in festivals as a scholar including the World Youth Orchestra with whom she played in Italy, Monaco, Switzerland, Germany, as a soloist and as a leader of the ensamble; Lusławice Academy's Orchestra ( The European Krzysztof Penderecki Center for Music); Die Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie during the Osterfestival in Bayreuth; Santander Orchestra of maestro Krzysztof Penderecki; Festival Warsaw Autumn; Miami Music Festival where she cooperated with Wagner Institute and was one of the leaders at the opera fellowship; Pacific Music Festival Academy in Japan with Valery Gergiev director, where she cooperated with musicians from Wiener Philharmoniker, Berliner Philharmoniker and Metropolitan Opera; Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester where she had opportunity to work with Vladimir Jurowski, Lorenzo Viotti and Lisa Batiashwili; Summer Music Academy with the Scharoun Ensemble Der Berliner Philharmoniker in Penderecki European Center; Szczecin Classic Academy; Emanacje Festival of Krzysztof Penderecki; Die Internationale Musikakademie fur solisten in Buckeburgu with Natalia Prishepenko and Boris Kusnezov.

Scholar of the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage in Poland, President of Cracow City, Hochschule fur Music Wurzburg and the Kosciuszko Foundation.

In 2014 she played as a soloist and leader of the chamber orchestra of the World Youth Orchestra in the United Nations Human Rights Hall. In 2015 she was invited as a soloist to play during the Festival “Les Jeunes Virtuoses” in Tunis with a solo recital program.

In 2019 at the invitation of Sharoun Ensemble Der Berliner Philharmoniker, she played during a lunch concert at the Berliner Philharmoniker as a leader of two chamber ensembles.

In 2020 for the invitation she played solo and led chamber music recitals during “The Musical Extravaganza at Sea” from Miami Classical Music Festival on the Brand New Celebrity Edge ( Fort Lauderdale, Puerto Rico, British Virgin Islands, St. Martin).

In 2020 she won twice as one of the 50 projects, collaboration with KBF ( Poland) for the special solo and chamber music concerts - projects at the “Partnership with the Music 2.0”.

Anna Buda has performed with numerous orchestras and has had solo recitals in halls such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Vienna Musikverein, New World Center in Miami, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Santory Hall in Tokyo, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, United Nations Human Rights Hall in Geneva, Monte Carlo Opera House, Luxembourg Philharmonie, Dresden Kulturpalast, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, NOSPR in Katowice, NFM in Wrocław, ICE Congress Center in Kraków and many more.

Since 2021 soloist of the second violin section at Cracow Opera House. Since 2021 student of Hochschule fur Musik Wurzburg in violin class Michael Szykulski.

She finished her Master's degree in violin performance at the Academy of Music in Cracow, where she studied with Professor Mieczysław Szlezer ( whose Professors were Josef Gingold, Henryk Szeryng, Franco Gulla). Besides this, she mastered her skills during the masterclasses with Tadeusz Gadzina, Michał Grabarczyk, Vadim Brodski, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Krzysztof Węgrzyn, Tomasz Tomaszewski, Michael Stricharz, Igor Petrushevsky, Levon Ambartsumian, Mikhail Kopelman, Gary Levinson, Andres Cardenes, Natalia Prischepenko, Friedemann Eichhorn, Larry Rachleff, Krzysztof Penderecki, Sir Neville Marriner, Rainer Küchl, Daniel Froschauer, David Chan, Jun Märkl, Valery Gergiev, Wolfram Brandl, Bartłomiej Nizioł, VascoVassilev, Chloe Kiffer, Joel Smirnoff, Claudio Bohorquez, Peter Riegelbauer, Igor Yuzefovich, Oleg Rylatko. Other than classical music she enjoys playing a lot of entertainment music, film music as well as contemporary music. She is a member of Bass Astral x Igo Orchestra with whom she played including the Opener Festival in Gdynia. She finished her Postgraduate Studies in Culture Management at the Jagiellonian University ( 2019) and Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Diplomacy (Jagiellonian University).
